Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task Force Arrests Newport Man on Fraud and Obstruction Warrants

NEWPORT, R.I. (August 21, 2025) — Members of the Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task Force have arrested Alex Briggs, 29, of 231 Maple Avenue, Apt. 403, Newport, on multiple outstanding warrants.

Briggs was taken into custody without incident on the following charges:

1. Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card — Affidavit and Arrest Warrant issued by the Middletown Police Department.
2. Obstruction — Affidavit and Arrest Warrant issued by the Jamestown Police Department.

Following the arrest, Briggs was turned over on scene to the Middletown Police Department for processing.
