QUEENS, N.Y. — A tragic stabbing unfolded Saturday evening inside a Ridgewood home on Forest Avenue, where a 54-year-old man allegedly killed his wife and their 2-year-old daughter before inflicting critical injuries on himself, NYPD confirmed.

Authorities responded to a 911 call shortly after 7 p.m. following reports of an assault in progress. NYPD sources said the man was on a FaceTime call with his nephew during the attack, prompting the nephew to call 911.

Upon arrival, officers found a 41-year-old woman stabbed approximately 18 times in the neck and chest. She was pronounced dead at an area hospital. The couple’s 2-year-old daughter had suffered nine stab wounds and was transported to an area hospital in critical condition, where she later died.

The 54-year-old man was found with stab wounds to his chest and was taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

A kitchen knife was recovered at the scene, according to sources.

Police have not yet released details on the motive but are treating the case as an apparent murder-suicide. The investigation is ongoing.
