HARRISON, N.J. — The New York Red Bulls suffered a tough 5-1 loss to Inter Miami CF on Saturday night at Sports Illustrated Stadium in their 24th match of the 2025 MLS regular season.

The Red Bulls (9-9-6, 33 pts.) struck first in the 15th minute when defender Alexander Hack volleyed home his first MLS goal off a well-placed corner from Emil Forsberg. The assist marked Forsberg’s seventh of the season and second in as many matches.

Inter Miami (12-4-5, 41 pts.) responded quickly and with force. Jordi Alba equalized in the 24th minute off a setup from Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez. Just three minutes later, Messi and Alba combined again to assist midfielder Telasco Segovia, who scored with a clever finish to give Miami the lead.

Segovia struck again in first-half stoppage time, putting the visitors up 3-1 heading into the break. Federico Redondo played a simple pass to the top of the box, where Segovia slotted it into the bottom left corner for his seventh goal of the season.

The second half saw more magic from Messi. In the 60th minute, Sergio Busquets delivered a through ball to Messi, who rounded the keeper and scored to make it 4-1. Messi added his second of the night and 17th of the season in the 75th minute, chesting down a Suárez cross before blasting it into the top corner.

The Red Bulls struggled to generate offense, recording only one shot on target out of nine attempts. Inter Miami, by contrast, were clinical—converting five of their eight shots on goal.

Despite the loss, several Red Bulls players reached career milestones. Sean Nealis made his 141st MLS start, tying him with Sean Davis for sixth-most in club history. With 90 minutes played, Nealis also passed Aaron Long for second-most minutes by a defender across all competitions in franchise history, now at 14,929. Forward Julian Hall made his second career MLS start, while Dylan Nealis returned from injury to make his first appearance since April.

The Red Bulls will look to regroup as they prepare for their next match, aiming to bounce back in the playoff race.
