BOSTON — A Brockton man is facing multiple firearm and motor vehicle charges after Boston police say he was found with a loaded Glock handgun during a traffic stop early Saturday morning in Roxbury.
Allante Pires, 28, was arrested by officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) around 2:42 a.m. on July 19, police said.
Officers were on patrol in the area of Moreland Street and Warren Street when they observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The officers activated their cruiser’s emergency lights and sirens, initiating a traffic stop at 14 Hazelwood St.
Upon approaching the vehicle, officers said the driver showed signs of impairment, including glossy eyes, slurred speech, and a strong odor of alcohol. When asked for his license and registration, the driver was only able to provide a license. Officers observed an open bottle of alcohol inside the glove box, along with a knife on the driver’s waistband.
After backup officers arrived, both the driver and front passenger were ordered to exit the vehicle. When they refused, officers removed them and conducted a pat frisk. A firearm was discovered inside the vehicle, and both occupants were placed in handcuffs.
District B-2 detectives took possession of the firearm, which was later identified as a Glock 19 with one round in the chamber and 24 rounds in a magazine capable of holding up to 31 rounds.
Pires was arrested and is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a large capacity firearm, operating under the influence of alcohol, open container, and speeding.
