GEORGIA, VT — A Burlington man was cited for DUI Thursday evening after Vermont State Police responded to reports of a male standing in the roadway next to a vehicle on Ethan Allen Highway.

On July 17, 2025, at approximately 7:29 p.m., troopers from the St. Albans Barracks responded to multiple calls regarding the incident. Upon arrival, they identified the individual as 41-year-old Cris Gates of Burlington.

While speaking with Gates, troopers observed several signs of impairment. Following an investigation, he was taken into custody and transported to the St. Albans State Police Barracks for processing.

Gates was issued a criminal citation to appear in Franklin County Superior Court – Criminal Division on July 29, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. to face the charge of driving under the influence.
