BOSTON — Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (Blue Cross), the title sponsor of the Bluebikes program, is offering a $20 Bluebikes credit to support commuters affected by ongoing MBTA service disruptions this summer.
The free credit, fully funded by Blue Cross, aims to provide a convenient and healthy transportation alternative as transit closures continue to impact travel across the region. Riders can use the $20 credit toward any Bluebikes trip in the system, which serves residents and commuters throughout Greater Boston.
The offer complements the City of Boston’s existing initiative that provides free Bluebikes unlocks during select MBTA closures. Together, the credits are designed to help keep people moving safely and efficiently while easing the burden of reduced public transit access.
Bluebikes, the region’s municipally owned bike-share system, operates across 13 communities including Boston, Cambridge, Somerville, and Brookline. With more than 4,000 bikes and over 400 stations, the system has become a critical part of the region’s transit network.
Riders can access the $20 credit through the Bluebikes app or website.
