On Tuesday afternoon, the Worcester Red Sox announced the postponement of this evening’s game at Polar Park against the Columbus Clippers, originally scheduled for 6:05 p.m. The decision was made due to an unexpected drop in temperatures, which are anticipated to plummet further throughout the evening, reaching dangerously low wind chills as cold as 10 degrees accompanied by strong gusts.
The rescheduled game will take place on Wednesday, April 9, as part of a single-admission doubleheader starting at 4:05 p.m. This exciting matchup will feature two games, each lasting 7 innings, allowing fans to enjoy a full evening of baseball action. Additionally, Wednesday is designated as First Responder Wednesday, generously sponsored by National Grid, offering four complimentary general admission tickets to first responders. Fans will also savor the Smiley Buck-A-Burger Meal Deal, a perfect treat for burger lovers at the ballpark.
This week’s six-game series against Columbus at Polar Park will now kick off with the twin bill at 4:05 p.m. on Wednesday, followed by games on Thursday and Friday nights, both beginning at 6:05 p.m., and capping off the weekend with traditional start times of 4:05 p.m. on Saturday and 1:05 p.m. on Sunday.
On Thursday, attendees can revel in a Roaring ‘20s/Babe Ruth-themed party at the DCU Club as the event commemorates the 100th anniversary of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s iconic novel, “The Great Gatsby.” A special appearance by Linda Ruth Tosetti, the granddaughter of the legendary Babe Ruth, is anticipated to add an extra layer of excitement.
Friday night promises to be a vibrant celebration with WooU College Night, where college students can take advantage of exclusive deals. It also marks the inaugural Wepas de Worcester, a tribute by WooSox players honoring the rich cultural heritages of Cuba and Spain.
