On Thursday, the New York Yankees made an announcement, confirming that non-roster invitee Pablo Reyes was signed to a Major League contract and officially selected for the active roster.
Reyes earned his place on the team with a remarkable performance during spring training, where he showcased not only his impressive offensive skills but also his remarkable defensive versatility. He adeptly maneuvered between third base, second base, and various corner outfield positions, demonstrating his ability to adapt and contribute wherever needed.
The 31-year-old Reyes hails from the vibrant city of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic and is embarking on his seventh season in Major League Baseball (MLB).
As a seasoned journeyman and part-time utility player, he has donned the uniforms of four different teams throughout his career, although he has yet to break the 71-game mark in a single season.
Reyes’ career statistics reflect a .248 batting average, .309 on-base percentage, and .349 slugging percentage, while he has displayed his defensive prowess by playing every position on the field except for catcher.
