The Maine Department of Transportation is set to close a southbound lane on I-95 in Bangor on Wednesday, March 5th, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

This closure, Maine DOT said, is necessary for equipment setup and worker safety, reducing southbound traffic to a single lane while leaving northbound lanes unaffected.

This lane closure is part of an ongoing bridge replacement project, which began in June 2023 and is expected to be completed by late 2026.

The initiative includes multiple bridge replacements and upgrades to intersections and has received approximately $9.3 million in federal funding through a U.S. DOT INFRA Grant awarded in 2020.

The project is being managed by New England Infrastructure, Inc. of Hudson, Massachusetts, with a total contract value of $30.6 million.
