This weekend in Worcester, Massachusetts, Afonso Quintino from Sao Luis dos Montes Belos, Brazil, delivered an exceptional performance at the BeatBox PBR Worcester, capturing his second consecutive victory in the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour. His performance showcased both skill and resilience as he went an impressive 2-for-3 in rides.
Quintino kicked off the event strong in Round 1, securing the second-best score of the day by expertly managing to cover King Pin, a formidable bull from the Dave Martin/Mike Miller Bucking Bulls lineup, for a score of 83 points. This achievement set a solid foundation for his pursuit of the championship.
As Championship Sunday unfolded, Quintino continued to shine, seizing the event lead in Round 2. He triumphed over South Point Dance Monkey, another tough competitor from Painted Pony Championship Rodeo, earning an outstanding score of 86.5 points. This ride solidified his position as a front-runner in the event.
Despite facing a setback in the championship round where he was bucked off by Cockeye, a bull from Mike Miller Bucking Bulls, after just 4.2 seconds, Quintino had already accumulated enough points from his earlier rides. This enabled him to secure his third victory of the season within the Velocity Tour circuit, amassing a total of 126 points in the quest to become the 2025 Velocity Tour Champion.
Taking second place was Brandon Chambers from Newport, North Carolina, who matched Quintino’s determination with his own 2-for-3 performance inside the DCU Center. Chambers struggled in Round 1, scoring just 63 points on Hot Spot before bouncing back in Round 2, where he completed the required 8 seconds atop Concrete Golashes, earning 74.5 points. However, his hopes for the title faded in the championship round when he was quickly thrown by Cash Goblin, also a Dave Martin/Mike Miller bull, in just 1.68 seconds. Chambers’ efforts earned him 65 Velocity Global points.
Finishing third was Bruno Carvalho from Alvares Florence, Brazil. Carvalho stood out with a strong performance highlighted by his Round 2 victory, scoring 84.5 points on Red Rum (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls), which earned him 54 Velocity Global points.
Round 1 victor Marcus Mast from Middlebury, Indiana, secured a respectable fourth place with an 83.5-point ride on Tigger (C-B Bucking Bulls), garnering 49 Velocity Global points.
Rounding out the Top 5 was Lucas Fideles Souza from Barnstable, Massachusetts, who achieved a score of 83 points by successfully riding Bruno (J Bar W) in Round 2, earning him 34 Velocity Global points.
In the bull pen, both Cockeye and Best Bet (C-B Bucking Bulls) distinguished themselves, each earning the coveted Bull of the Event title with matching scores of 44 points in the championship round. Cockeye impressed during Quintino’s ride, while Best Bet showcased his prowess by bucking off Souza in just 2.57 seconds.
