Patricia (affectionately known as Pat) Merritt, a beloved lifelong resident of Bridgeport, Connecticut, peacefully passed away in the early hours of December 29th, 2024. She was born to the late Mary and Walter Burgo Sr., who instilled in her the values of kindness and community that she carried throughout her life. Pat is survived by her devoted brother, Walter Burgo Jr., who will forever hold her memory close to his heart.

Pat was predeceased by her cherished siblings: Rosemary, Jerome, Michael, Cynthia, Carol, and Dominick, each of whom she loved deeply. While they have all left this world, Pat’s spirit and the legacy of their close-knit family will continue to resonate through her numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom she adored and nurtured throughout her life.

Professionally, Pat dedicated many years of her life to the City of Bridgeport, where she was a compassionate employee committed to ensuring that individuals and families had access to safe and secure housing. Her unwavering dedication to her work and her community shone through in her efforts and made a significant impact on the lives of many.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Pat was an avid bowler and a highly respected member of the Nutmeg Bowling League. Known for her competitive spirit and her love for the game, she won numerous competitions at local, regional, and even national levels, earning the admiration of her peers and fellow enthusiasts.

Those who knew Pat remember her for her loving spirit, generous heart, and infectious laughter that could brighten even the darkest of days. Her friends and family will forever cherish the countless memories filled with her love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear.

A Memorial Service to honor Pat’s wonderful life will be held at the Lester Gee Funeral Home in Bridgeport; further details will be announced shortly. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Lung Association, an organization that aligns with Pat’s compassionate nature and her commitment to helping others.
