In 2021, the Boston Police Department’s records revealed the presence of 102 active gangs within the city. Further investigations conducted by Gang and Intelligence Officers identified a total of 738 individuals aged between 14 and 24 with affiliations to these gangs.
One of the prominent gangs, known as the Cameron Street gang, operates in the Dorchester section of Boston and has gained notoriety for instilling fear through the use of violence and threats to bolster its reputation. Members of the Cameron Street gang are known to possess, carry, and utilize firearms for the purpose of executing and assaulting rival gang members, as well as safeguarding narcotics and drug proceeds. Additionally, they utilize social media platforms to publicize and glorify their involvement in violent crimes, including murders.
The criminal activities of the Cameron Street gang extend beyond Boston, impacting various other communities such as Brockton, Cambridge, Somerville, Quincy, Everett, Randolph, Taunton, and other areas in Massachusetts.
One of the individuals implicated in these criminal activities is Charod Taylor, also known as “Pachino,” who is a member of the Cameron Street gang. Along with other members, Taylor was involved in operating an open-air drug market in a Dorchester business parking lot, where they distributed crack and powder cocaine.
Between February 2021 and March 2022, Taylor, along with other associates, engaged in the distribution of crack and powder cocaine to cooperating witnesses on seven separate occasions.
On Tuesday at the US District Court in Boston, Taylor pleaded guilty to charges including RICO conspiracy to interfere with commerce by force or violence, and conspiracy to distribute cocaine at the United States District Court in Boston.
Charod Taylor is set to be sentenced on January 15, 2025.
