On Monday, September 2, 2024, Kaire Holman, 31 of Quincy, Massachusetts was charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of  Zharia Wilcox-Ellis on Second Avenue in Waltham, Massachusetts.

Waltham Police Department on August 2, responded around 11:30 PM to an apartment on Second Ave and located Wilcox-Ellis who was shot and pronounced deceased on scene.

At the scene, Waltham Police recovered ballistic evidence and also recovered projectiles from Wilcox-Ellis’ body. The Middlesex County DA’s office said, “Those projectiles matched ballistic evidence from a .380 firearm registered to Kaire Holman.”

In addition to Holman, on August 5, 2024, Melanie Williams, 30 of Waltham was charged with assault and battery on a household or family member in connection with physically assaulting Wilcox-Ellis.

At her arraignment on Wednesday, August 3, 2024, Holman appeared in Waltham District Court before Judge Michael Fabbri, who entered a plea of not guilty on all charges. Judge Fabbri also ordered Holman committed to the MCI in Framingham pending a dangerousness hearing on September 23.
