Georgetown Takes Down St John’s in Final Big East Quarterfinal

The final women’s Big East Semifinal pinned Georgetown against St John’s. The game was played at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT on Saturday night.

Georgetown got off to an explosive start as they opened the game on a 10-0 run halfway through the first quarter. St John’s went on a 5-0 run to close the gap in half, and each team scored seven points to end the quarter. Georgetown led 17-7 after the first 10 minutes.

The Hoyas continued their hot start in the second quarter getting out to a 23-10 lead with just over three minutes in the half. It was At John’s who won the quarter, however, outscoring Georgetown 9-8. They still trailed 25-16 at halftime.

St John’s would then close the deficit to five twice in the third quarter, but Georgetown seemed to have an answer for every St John’s score as they led by five after three quarters.

Georgetown would then pull away in the fourth, taking a 14-point lead with 54 seconds left. They would go on to win by a final score of 53-44.

They will face Creighton in the semifinal today at 5 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcasted on FS1.
