Creighton and Seton Hall faced off in the third of four Big East tournament quarterfinal matchups at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT on Saturday night. 21st ranked Creighton was looking to advance to the semifinals while the Pirates were looking to pull off the upset.
It was a close game throughout the entire first half with the biggest lead being four in favor of Creighton a minute and a half into the game. Seton Hall made a quick comeback to tie the game at four, and the two teams went back and forth for the first 20 minutes. It was the Pirates who were on top at the half with the score being 34-33.
The third quarter was more of the same, as the biggest lead for either side was three points. It would remain a three-point game to the end of the third quarter with Creighton now having a 53-50 lead.
The 21st ranked team pulled away early on in the fourth quarter, growing a 58-50 lead. They’d keep the eight-point lead through most of the rest of the way and despite Seton Hall making it a three-point game with 34 seconds left, Creighton was able to hold on for a 72-65 victory.
They will face off against Georgetown in the semifinal today at 5 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcasted on FS1.
