Leading the charge in the first half, the Celtics pace kept the Brooklyn Nets off balance and fumbling to keep up. With Kristap Porzingis not playing this game, one would think the Celtics would have to worry about points in the paint.
Fortunately this was not a problem due to Celtics offensive prowess and a 14 rebound 41 point performance by Jason Tatum. Scoring 72 points in the first half, for the 13th time this season, the Celtics handled the Nets and beat them in almost every category on the stat sheet.
A double double from Jrue Holiday accumulating 12 assists and 14 points helped Boston to control a Nets run in the second half. Even with solid offensive input from Mikal Bridges, 27 points and Cam Thomas 26 points, Brooklyn was only able to come within six and the Celtics were able to triumph 118-110.
Facing Brooklyn again tomorrow, but this time in Boston, the Celtics, with a league leading 42 -12 continue to present themselves as the team to be in the East. Constantly altering between driving to the hoop and pulling up for a jumper, Jason Tatum definitely showed that he is capable of playing an extremely balanced game offensively.
Back on Valentine’s Day the Celtics faced the Nets at home at 7:30 and will continue to attempt to dominate the opposition.
