Wednesday afternoon, the Connecticut Sun announced they had acquired Tiffany Mitchell, and they also got the No. 19 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft from the Minnesota Lynx.
In exchange, the Minnesota Lynx will get Natisha Hiedeman and Sun General Manager Darius Taylor in a statement said, “It’s never easy to part ways with someone that has been a part of your organization for as long as Natisha.” Taylor added, “We would like to thank her for her dedication and contributions on the court and in the community. We wish her success with her new organization.”
Sun Head Coach Stephanie White, on Natisha Hiedeman being traded, said, “T is a joy to coach and will impact every team she’s a part of. We wish her the best.”
Coach White. Who was in Indiana when Tiffany Mitchell was drafted 9th overall in the 2016 WNBA Draft by the Indiana Fever said, “I’m excited to be on the same sideline with her again. She’s a competitor and fits the grit and toughness that permeates our franchise.”
Mitchell, who is a Charlotte, North Carolina native, played with the Fever for seven seasons from 2016-2022.
In the 2023 season, Mitchell played with the Minnesota Lynx, averaged 7.3 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists over 33 regular season contests.
In Mitchell’s collegiate career at the University of South Carolina, she was named the SEC Player of the Year twice in 2014 and in 2015. She helped lead the Gamecocks to the 2015 NCAA Final Four and two SEC Tournament championships. Mitchell ranks among the program’s all-time top five in 10 career stats, including school records for games started and games played
On Monday, April 15, at the 2024 WNBA, Draft the Connecticut Sun now has the 10th, 19th, 22nd, and 34th picks.
The Sun tip off their 2024 regular season at Mohegan Sun Arena on Tuesday, May 14, against the Indiana Fever at 8:00 PM.
