Wild Card Weekend: Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Philadelphia Eagles

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers hosted the Philadelphia Eagles in the final game of the NFL’s 2024 Wild Card Weekend at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL on Monday night. The Eagles were looking to get back to the Super Bowl for the second consecutive season. The winner of this would go to Detroit to take on the Lions on Sunday afternoon.

The Bucs got on the board first with a 28-yard field goal from kicker Chase McLaughlin. They would also score the game’s first touchdown as quarterback Baker Mayfield and David Moore connected for a 44-yard touchdown with 5:47 left in the first.

Down 16-3 with just over three minutes left in the half, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts found tight end Dallas Goedert for a five-yard score. They failed on a two-point attempt, and Tampa led 16-9 at halftime.

The next score came with 2:16 left in the third as Hurts was called for intentional grounding in the end zone, leading to a safety that expanded the Buccaneers lead to 18-9. The offense would capitalize on the next drive as Mayfield threw his second touchdown of the night, a 56-yarder to Trey Palmer. They now lead 25-9 after three quarters.

The final score of the night was Mayfield’s third touchdown pass as he found Chris Godwin on a 23-yard connection. That would ultimately put the game away with the final score of 32-9.

Tampa will head to Detroit to take on the Lions in the Divisional Round on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.
