Rhode Island Stylin’ In 79-74 Win Over Davidson

The Rhode Island Rams went on the road to take on the Davidson Wildcats in Atlantic 10 Division action.

The Rams went into yesterday’s matchup on a two game winning streak, with a record of 7-7 sitting with a .500 record on the season. The Wildcats meanwhile came in at 10-4

Rhode Island began the game jumping out to a quick 7-0 lead, Luis Kortright scored five of his team’s seven points.

University of Rhode Island’s key producer, David Green, got into foul trouble, sitting out for the majority of the first half.

On top of that, Davidson’s Bobby Durkin went a perfect four for four from the 3 point line, scoring 13 first-half points for the Wildcats.

Despite Durkin’s production, URI managed to cling to a 38-34 point lead at halftime. 

Having lost in their two previous contests to Rhode Island, Davidson looked for redemption. The Wildcats managed to tie the game up with a little over 12 minutes left on the clock behind David Skogman’s 20 points and Reed Bailey’s 19 points.

Unfortunately for Davidson, Kortright’s career high 26 points coupled with David Fuchs’ third consecutive double-double, grabbing 11 rebounds and racking up 19 points, prove to be too much as URI triumphed 79-74.

The Rams extend their win streak to three games and look to make it four on Friday when they take on the University of Massachusetts Minutemen with tip-off scheduled for 2:00 PM EST

Davidson will look to bounce back Friday against the George Washington Revolutionaries with their games starting at 2:00 PM. EST.
