Thursday night, the Celtics were back home at TD Garden for their 30th game of the season, their 15th home game, and their first of three games this season with the Pistons. The Celtics swept the 2022-23 season series against Detroit for the first time since the 1991-92 season after posting a 127-109 win at TD Garden on February 15, 2023. And tonight, in front of 19,156 fans, the Celtics grabbed a 128-122 win in overtime.
Jayson Tatum and Kristaps Porzingis together put 66 points on the board for Boston. Tatum finished with two offensive rebounds, five defensive rebounds, ten dimes, and five thefts. Porzingis finished with eight defensive rebounds, one helper and one theft.
Derrick White, in Thursday night’s win, finished with 23 points, one offensive rebound, three defensive rebounds, and five dimes. White scored ten of his 23 points in overtime.
Friday night back on the court at TD Garden, the Celtics will host Toronto for game three of four this season. In Their first meeting on November 11, Boston won 117-94, and in their second meeting on November 17, Boston beat Toronto 108-105.
