In Torrington, Connecticut, Jose L. Ortiz, 46, of Torrington was charged with two counts of Sexual Assault in the First Degree, one count of Sexual Assault in the Fourth Degree, and three counts of Risk of Injury to a Minor.
On December 6, Ortiz was arrested and changed as a fugitive from justice in New York as he attempted to board a flight from JFK Airport to Bogota, Columbia.
On Thursday, Ortiz waived extradition from New York and was brought to Connecticut by members of the Connecticut State Police, Troop B, North Canaan.
In Torrington Superior Court today, Ortiz was arraigned and ordered held on a $1 million court-set bond.
Ortiz is scheduled to be back in court on February 6, 2024.
