A Massachusetts State Trooper attempting to make a traffic stop on I-91 North at the Holyoke rest stop Friday, was hit and dragged when the trooper tried to stop a vehicle.
In a statement released on “X” Massachusetts State Police said “At 3PM a Trooper was struck & dragged by a car he tried to stop in the Holyoke rest area, Rt91 NB. Trooper disengaged from vehicle but was injured, has been taken to a hospital. Vehicle fled and crashed further up the road. Suspect ran into woods; manhunt underway.”
The trooper was injured and has been taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Traffic was being redirected through the breakdown lane in the area of I-91 North where the crash occurred as police conduct a search for the suspect.
