The Worcester Red Sox hosted the Buffalo Bisons at Polar Park in Worcester, MA on Tuesday night. The game was delayed almost an hour due to weather and first pitch occured around 7:35 p.m. ET.
This was the first game of a 12-game homestand for the WooSox and the first game of the six-game series against Buffalo.
Worcester scored the first run of the game with one out in the bottom of the second when Wilyer Abreu scored on a single from Ryan Fitzgerald. They would add five more runs in the inning to make it a 6-0 lead after two.
The Bison would explode for eight runs in the sixth inning, including a three-run homer that gave them a 9-6 lead. The Red Sox would come back and tie the game at nine headed into the bottom of the sixth.
David Hamilton would score the go-ahead run in the bottom of the seventh on a single from Bobby Dalbec. AJ Politi finished the job, closing the game out for the WooSox. They are now tied atop the IL East following the victory.
Game 2 of this series will be played at 12:15 p.m. ET today at Polar Park.
