ROAD TRIPPIN’: 

On Sunday the Worcester Red Sox wrapped up their post All-Star break road trip which first took them to Jacksonville for a three-game matchup with the Jumbo Shrimp, and they next traveled to Moosic, PA for a matchup with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (AAA-Yankees). Worcester has won six of their last nine games on the road. After the WooSox won their three-game game series against Jacksonville, they earned their first series sweep of the 2023 season and their first series sweep since they swept a 5-game set at Lehigh Valley to end the 2021 season (September 29 – October 3, 2021). The WooSox outscored Jacksonville 26-15. In their six-game matchup with the RailRiders, the series was split 3-3. But the WooSox outscored the RailRiders 42-34.

TONIGHT’S GAME:

Tuesday night the Worcester Red Sox kickoff their third set of six-games with the Rochester Red Wings. It will be the second time this season that Worcester has hosted Rochester in the Canal District at Polar Park. In their first meeting of the season Rochester won that series 4-2, however, Worcester grabbed the second series of the season 4-2. 

HE DRIVES THEM IN: 

Ryan Fitgerald on July 22 versus Scranton-Wilkes Barre had two RBIs in the same game. Fitzgerald has had 48 RBIs during the season which is 38th in the International League and tied for second best on the WooSox.

STRENGTH IN HOMER NUMBERS:  

The Worcester Red Sox in their last nine games have hit 12 homers. Of those 12 home runs Bobby Dalbec, Wilyer Abreu, and Ceddanne Rafaela each hit two homeruns. Dalbec himself has hit 22 homers on the season and is third in the International League in homeruns. Narciso Crook also made history when he hit an inside the park home run which was the first in WooSox history. The WooSox as a team have hit 139 homeruns which is fourth in the International League by team.

GOING STREAKING

Ceddanne Rafaela has thirteen hits in his last nine games. Rafaela has at least one hit in his last nine and two back-to-back games with multi hits. Rafaela has two back-to-back games with two RBI each. Nick Sogard, in his last three games has five runs and has two runs each in his last two games. 

STARTING THINGS OFF:

Oddanier Eduardo Mosqueda will start for Worcester Tuesday night against Rochester.
