New England struck early with Matt Polster completing a right footed shot from outside the box to the bottom left corner to make it 1-0 match.
In the ninth minute, New England grabbed their second goal of the match with Giacomo Vrioni completing a left footed shot from very close range to the bottom right corner. Assisted by Carles Gil with a through ball following a fast break.
In the 90th +3, Atlanta finally got into this with Machop Chol completing a left footed shot from the left side of the six yard box to the top left.
New England will play their second match of the week on Saturday, July 15, against D.C. United at Gillette Stadium.
