“You can’t expect to go undefeated in this league. This league is too competitive night in and night out.” Coach Stephanie White would say postgame.

This was Coach White’s first loss as the Connecticut Sun coach after going undefeated in the preseason and starting the season 3-0.

The Sun would lose to the New York Liberty 81-65.

Breanna Stewart would lead the Liberty in scoring with 21 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists.

Courtney Vandersloot would be the second highest scorer for the Liberty with 18 points and 10 assists having a double double. Vandersloot would also grab 6 rebounds.

Sabrina Ionescu would be the third Liberty player with over 15 points with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists.

Former Connecticut Sun player Jonquel Jones would score 7 points.

For the Sun Tiffany Hayes would lead the team in scoring with 16 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists.

DeWanna Bonner scored 14 points and grabbed 7 boards in 29 minutes of play for the Sun going 2-5 from three.

Former Sixth Women of the Year Brionna Jones would score 12 points against the Liberty while grabbing 8 rebounds as well.

The Sun despite the loss have the third best record in the league and the best record in the Eastern Conference.

Connecticut will get a chance to get back in the win column on Tuesday against the Indiana Fever.
