Friday night the Connecticut Sun kicked off their 2023 season in Indianapolis, IN against the Indiana Fever, and they did it with a 70-61 win.
DeWanna Bonner and Alyssa Thomas led the Sun to Friday night’s victory with a combined 37 points. Bonner, who played 32 minutes, had seven rebounds. Thomas, who played 38 minutes, had eleven rebounds and six assists, two steals and two blocks.
Brionna Jones played 26 minutes, put 13 points on the board and had nine rebounds.
Connecticut shot 31.8% (21-66) from the field, while holding Indiana to 33.3% (22-66) from the floor. The Sun lead in fast break points (13-7), second chance points (13-8), and points in the paint (32-26); while Indiana led in bench points (17-8).
Next up, The Connecticut Sun will return home to Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT. for their home opener this Sunday, May 21 at 1:00 PM EST against the Washington Mystics.
