Red Sox Even Series Against Orioles With 8-6 Win

The Boston Red Sox defeated the Baltimore Orioles 8-6 to even the series at one game a piece. This win comes after a 5-4 loss to Baltimore the day before.

Corey Kluber would get the start on the mound today and gain his first win of the season now holding a record of 1-4. Kluber’s first win came on a six inning, three strikeout day, and Kluber would only allow five hits and one run.

Kyle Bradish would be the losing pitcher for Baltimore having a rough performance only pitching 2 1/3 innings allowing eight hits and seven runs..

Boston scored seven of their eight runs in the first three innings. Three runs came in the top of the second on a slew of singles and a sacrifice fly from Rafael Devers. 

The four run third inning would come off a grand slam from Jarren Duran who hit his first home run of the season.

The Red Sox would go up seven to zero until the bottom of the fifth when Jorge Mateo would hit his fourth home run of the season to give the Orioles their first run of the day.

Boston would add another run in the bottom of the eighth to bring the run total to eight obtaining a seven run lead.

Baltimore would give it its last try in the bottom of the ninth starting off with a Gunnar Henderson home run. This was his second home run of the season and would make way for a Cedric Mullins grand slam.

This wasn’t enough as Boston would hold on as Kenley Jansen would get his six saves of the season and give the Red Sox a win over their division foes.

The Red Sox still sit fifth in the American League East Division with a record of 13-12. 

Baltimore with that loss now has a record of 15-8 which is second in the American League East Division.

The two teams square off in a tiebreaker of this series tomorrow with first pitch scheduled for 1:05 EST.
