The Boston Celtics hosted the Atlanta Hawks in Game 5 of their NBA first-round playoff matchup at TD Garden in Boston, MA on Tuesday night. The Celtics were looking to eliminate the Hawks and advance to the second round, where they would play the Philadelphia 76ers.
Despite outscoring the Hawks in the second and third quarters, Atlanta outscored Boston 37-25 in the fourth quarter, including the game-winning three-pointer from Trae Young with just 2.8 seconds left. The Hawks came out with a 119-117 victory, keeping their season alive and forcing a Game 6 in Atlanta on Thursday.
Despite the loss, Jaylen Brown still had an impressive performance, scoring 35 points shooting 15 of 23 from the floor. Jayson Tatum, Derrick White and Marcus Smart also scored in double figures.
The Celtics will now look to eliminate the Hawks with a win in Atlanta on Thursday night. Tip-off time has yet to be determined.
