Worcester Red Sox Shutdown Buffalo Bison In 13-4 Win

After three games postponed in Buffalo, The Worcester Red Sox finally got to play some baseball on Friday, playing a doubleheader and winning game one 3-1, and game two 9-5. Coming into Saturday afternoon’s game against Buffalo, the Worcester Red Sox were 4-1 but with their 13-3 win, they improved to 5-1 to start the season.

Top of the first at Sahlen Field in downtown Buffalo, Bobby Dalbec and Daniel Palka opened this game up with back-to-back homers. 

The home run parade continued for Worcester at the top of the second with Greg Allen hitting his second homer in the young season, and then with Jarren Duran hitting his first homer of the season at the top of the fourth and getting an RBI with Nick Sogard scoring. 

At the top of the fifth Greg Allen grabbed an RBI single with Daniel Palka scoring. 

Top of the sixth Jarren Duran hit his first RBI double with Nick Sogard scoring. Jorge Alfaro grabbed an RBI double at the top of the sixth with Jarren Duran and Bobby Dalbec scoring, and then Niko Goodrum hit a single with Jorge Alfaro scoring.

Buffalo got their first three runs of the game with Rob Brantly hitting his second RBI double of the season with Spencer Horwitz scoring, and Ernie Clement hitting an RBI single to get Rafael Lantigua and Rob Brantly over the plate.

At the top of the eighth Greg Allen grabbed his third RBI of the game hitting a sac fly to center and Daniel Palka scored. Jorge Alfaro and Niko Goodrum also scored at the top of the eighth to get Worcester their twelfth and thirteenth runs of the game.

And this game ended the way it started but with Buffalo’s Ernie Clement hitting a homer.

Duran and Allen both had three RBI while Alfaro had two and Dalbec, Palka, Goodrum, Crook and Hamilton each had one. 

Palka had three runs while Duran, Dalbec, Sogard and Alfaro each had two, and Goodrum and Allen had one each.

Worcester and Buffalo will meet again on Sunday afternoon with first pitch expected to be at 12:05 PM for game one of a doubleheader.
