Hartford Yard Goats Home Opener Against Bowie Baysox

Wednesday night in downtown Hartford, Connecticut the Yard Goats kickoff their 2023 season with RHP Case Williams making his first start of the season, his second career start with the Yard Goats, and his first career Opening Day start. Williams, who is listed by MLB.com as the Rockies #25 Prospect, in 2022 Pitched at Fresno and Spokane before making his way to Hartford.

Thursday night will be the first of three meetings over the next three days with the Bowie Baysox (Baltimore Orioles affiliate) at Dunkin’ Park. The Yard Goats won five of six games against the Orioles affiliate last year. This three game series will be the only time this season that the two clubs meet.

The Yard Goats are opening the season in Hartford for the second consecutive year. In 2022, the Yard Goats lost their home opener to Binghamton 8-2 at Dunkin’ Park. They finished the season with the most wins in franchise history (77) and set several franchise records last season including winning nine straight games, June 3-12, and eight straight, July 13-26.

The Yard Goats opening day roster includes 15 returning players and 13 newcomers with 16 pitchers and 12 position players. Colorado Rockies #2 prospect Zac Veen, and #4 prospect Drew Romo are both on the Yard Goats opening day roster as well as Warming Bernabel and Julio Carreras who are both on the Rockies 40-man MLB roster.
