The Boston played their final road playoff game of the regular season when they took on the Philadelphia 76ers at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA on Tuesday night. The Celtics held a three game lead over the Sixers for the second seed in the Eastern Conference.
Joel Embiid scored 24 points in the first half, and the Sixers lead 53-46 at halftime. The 24 points for Embiid gives him 2,134 points on the season, the most for a center since Shaq when he won the NBA MVP in 2000.
The Celtics went from being up one late in the game to being down 101-95 after PJ Tucker made three three-pointers. Jayson Tatum had a chance to tie the game at the end of regulation, but his shot at the buzzer fell short, resulting in a 103-101 Sixers win.
Derrick White led the way for Boston with 26 points on 9 of 18 shooting as all five starters scored in double figures on the loss. Malcom Brogdon also scored 18 points coming off the bench.
Embiid finished with 52 points and 13 rebounds as the Sixers have now closed the gap between them and the Celtics for the second seed in the East. They now lead by just two games with three remaining.
The Celtics will be back home for their final three home games with the first one coming on Wednesday when they host the Toronto Raptors. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.
