UConn’s men’s basketball team faced off against San Diego State in the 2023 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship Game at NRG Stadium in Houston, TX on Monday night. UConn was looking to win their first title since 2014, which they also won in Houston.

The Huskies dominated their way to the National Championship Game, and it was more of the same as they defeated San Diego State 76-59 to win the men’s basketball title. They become the fifth team since 1985, when the tournament bracket expanded, to win all of their games by double digits.

Both Adama Sanogo and Tristan Newton recorded double-doubles. Sanogo scored 17 points and recorded 10 rebounds. Newton also recorded 10 rebounds, scoring 19 points.

After trailing by 16 in the first half, the Aztecs made it a five-point game with 5:19 left in the second half. UConn would then go on a 9-0 run to close the game.

They win their first championship since 2014, which they also won in Houston, after winning all of their tournament games by an average of 20 points per game.
