On Sunday, Red Sox Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom announced that Ángel Pierre, 19, of the Kansas City Royals, was acquired by the Red Sox.
Pierre, a minor league infielder, made his professional debut in 2022 and batted .300 (30-for-100) with a .974 OPS, 11 doubles, four triples, two home runs, 19 RBI, and nine stolen bases in 33 Dominican Summer League games for KC Stewart.
A right-handed hitter, Pierre played 26 games at third base, six at shortstop, one at second base, and one as the designated hitter. The Dominican Republic native was signed by the Royals as an international free agent on January 19, 2022.
