The Red Sox took on the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday afternoon as MLB Spring Training continued on. They were coming off a 3-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday.
After both teams scored a run in the first and second innings, Philadelphia’s Roberts hit the game’s first home run, making the score 3-1 in the third inning. Fitzgerald would homer in the fourth inning, making the score 3-2.
After the Phillies made it a 5-2 game after Castellanos hit a ground-rule double in the bottom of the fifth, Allen knocked a grand slam in the sixth, giving the Red Sox their first lead at 6-5. At this point in the game, all six of their runs came on six hits.
Boston would add three runs in the ninth inning to close the game out, winning 9-5. They will be back in action tomorrow against the other team out of Pennsylvania, the Pittsburgh Pirates.
