By Stephen Ur –

The Boston Red Sox started 9-0 in Spring Training and were the only undefeated team remaining in the MLB’s preseason. They had since lost five of their last six heading into their matchup today against the Atlanta Braves.

Matt Olson homered in the top of the first inning to give the Braves the early 1-0 lead. There was no scoring until the fifth inning, when Atlanta added three more runs to take a 4-0 lead. Two of the runs scored came when Olson hit his second home run of the game.

Mitchell Tolman and Grayson Jenista, who came on as a pinch hitter, hit home runs in the top of the eighth, extending the lead to 7-0. Hudson rounded out the scoring in the ninth with an RBI single, making the score 8-0.

Boston finished with just six hits, leaving eight runners on base. They also went 0-4 with runners in scoring position.

Tanner Houck took the loss for the Red Sox after going 4.2 IP, allowing four earned runs and striking out five.

The Red Sox play two games tomorrow at 1:05 p.m. ET. Both games will be against AL East rivals as they take on the Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays.
