Vermont State Police Arrest Fugitive Wanted For Rutland, Vermont Murder

On Wednesday, March 15, 2023, Vermont State Police arrested Trayvon Kisling, 18, of Staten Island, New York. Kisling has been charged with first-degree murder, first-degree aggravated domestic assault, and obstruction of justice. 

On November 7, 2022 police in Rutland, Vermont at approximately 4:15 p.m. responded to the area of State Street and Cleveland Street for a report of a shooting. Vermont State Police responded to assist Rutland Police.

Upon arrival officers located a deceased male with a vehicle that was involved in a crash. The male was identified as Jonathan Naranjo, 26, of Brooklyn, New York. 

On November 8, 2022 the Vermont Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington, Vermont performed an autopsy and determined the cause of death to be gunshot wounds to the torso and upper extremity, and the manner of death to be a homicide.

During their Initial investigation the Vermont State Police and Rutland City Police said it appeared Naranjo had been targeted.

During their investigation, Vermont State Police identified the shooter as Kisling, and obtained an arrest warrant for Kisling.

On Wednesday, Kisling was located at a Shell gas station and convenience store in Brandon, Vermont and taken into custody by members of the Vermont State Police’s Tactical Services Unit. Kisling was transported to the state police barracks in Rutland, Vermont for processing.
