Ryan Fitzgerald Gets The Walk Off Win For The Red Sox

On Saturday at JetBlue Park at Fenway South, the Red Sox hosted the Rays and grabbed their second win. On Friday the Red Sox grabbed a W with a 5-3 win against the Northeastern Huskies and Saturday’s game against Atlanta ended in a 6-6 tie.

The bottom of the second Verdugo hit a single to help drive in Yoshida and make this a 0-1 game.

It was a scoreless game until the top of the sixth when Raley hit a homer to center for the Rays to make it a 1-1 tie game.

Bottom of the eighth Lugo hit a double to get Crook, Fitzgerald, and Sogard over the plate and make it a 1-4 Red Sox game.

Top of the seventh Peters hit a single for the Rays to help get Dini over the plate and make it a 2-4, Red Sox lead.

Top of the eighth the Rays took the lead in this game for the first time with Basabe hitting a homer and driving in Cardenas, Shenton, and Manzardo to make it 6-4. But in the bottom of eighth, a triple by Lugo to right would get Sogard and Abreu over the plate to make it a 6-6 tie game.

At the bottom of the ninth, Fitzgerald, the guy from the WooSox saved the day hitting a single to left to get Scott and fellow WooSox teammate Valdez over the plate for the Red Sox to get a 6-7 walk off win against the Rays.

Today’s game was the first of four Spring Training meetings between the Red Sox and Rays. These two teams will also play each other 13 times during the regular season.

On Monday the Red Sox will be back in action when they host Minnesota with Kutter Crawford starting.
