By Stephen Ur –

The Connecticut Sun have announced that they are hosting basketball clinics known as “Basketball For Free” in a partnership with Fidelity Investments, the official community wealth partner of the Sun.

“We’re excited to support women-centered organizations like the WNBA and the Connecticut Sun to continue investing in the next generation,” says Pamela Everhart, Head of Community Relations and Regional Public Affairs at Fidelity Investments. “Our work is grounded in authentically partnering with communities that know best what their needs are and building trusted relationships with organizations based on transparency and mutual learning. We are taking steps to provide access and opportunity that reduce barriers and empower youth to achieve their highest potential.”

The first clinic will be held at the Boys and Girls Club at Cumberland-Lincoln in Cumberland, RI on Feb. 23 from 1 p.m. ET to 2:30 p.m. ET. The second clinic will be split into two sessions and will be held two days later, Feb. 25, at the Orchard Gardens Boys and Girls Club in Roxbury, MA, a suburb of Boston, from 11 a.m. ET to noon ET and 12:15 p.m. ET to 1:15 p.m. ET respectively. Participants at all clinics will be receiving a complementary basketball and Connecticut Sun t-shirt.

“We are excited to join Fidelity Investments in bringing these free resources and instruction to young people across New England,” Sun Director of Franchise Development and Assistant General Manager said. “Pushing the game forward, not only in Connecticut but throughout New England, is a huge focus for us; and by finding ways to do so at no cost to these young people who may not be able to access these resources under normal circumstances is something the Connecticut Sun is extremely proud of.”

The Sun begin their 20th season on May 19 when they go on the road to take on the Indiana Fever. Their home opener is Sunday, May 21 when they host the Washington Mystics.
