WooSox Kick Off 2023 Season In 90 Days

In 90 days the Worcester Red Sox will kick off their 2023 season, their third season at Polar Park in Worcester’s Canal District. 

The WooSox open the 2023 season on Friday March 31 at 4:05 p.m. when they host the Syracuse Mets for a 3-game opening weekend series which is the earliest a Red Sox Triple-A franchise has ever begun a season. Saturday, April 1 the two teams will meet again at 4:05 p.m. and Sunday, April 2 at 1:05 p.m.

April 4-9, the WooSox will head to Buffalo, NY for their first road trip of the season to play six games against the Buffalo Bisons (AAA-Toronto). 

The WooSox will return home to Worcester April 11-16 for a six-game homestand against the Columbus Clippers (AAA-Cleveland) of the International League West division. 

From April 25 to May 7, the WooSox will kick off a 12-game homestand. From April 25-30, the WooSox will host their IL East rival the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (AAA-New York Yankees), and then May 2-7, they’ll host the Buffalo Bisons.

The WooSox will hit the road May 23 – June 4 for their only 12-game road trip. They’ll first play a 6-game set against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, and then a 6-game set against the Louisville Bats (AAA-Cincinnati).

The WooSox next 12-game game homestand will be August 8-20, hosting first the Buffalo Bisons for 6-games and the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for 6-games.

Following the All-Star break, July 14-23, the WooSox will have a 9-game road trip. They’ll play a 3-game set against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp and then a 6-game set against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

While Monday’s will again this season be regularly scheduled off days for the WooSox, they will play Monday July 3 in Buffalo against the Bisons.

The WooSox will again in 2023 play Norfolk (Orioles). They’ll play a 6-game homestand against Norfolk and play a 6-game set on the road in Norfolk, Virginia.

The WooSox will wrap up their 2023 season on the road Sunday, September 24 at Lehigh Valley.

The WooSox will be bringing back popular promotional nights including Friday Night “UniBank Fireworks,” Saturday “Sunset Catches on the Field” presented by Dunkin’, and “Fallon Health Family Funday Sundays,” when HP Hood presents “Kids Run the Bases,” 

The ever so popular “Town Takeovers,” will also return in 2023 but the WooSox say they’ll be 23 in 2023 up from 18 in 2022.

New in 2023 will be “Taco and Tequila Tuesdays,” “Woof Woof Wednesdays,” and “Throwback Thursdays” featuring Red Sox Legends.

On “Taco & Tequila Tuesdays,” the WooSox said ‘fans can purchase three tacos and a margarita for only $12.”

The WooSox said “New to WooSox ’23, nine children will be selected at every Sunday home game to run out to one of the nine positions on the field alongside a WooSox player for the performance of the national anthem.”

To celebrate Worcester’s cultural diversity, the WooSox in addition to Wepas games, will host 10 “Heritage Nights.”  Featured communities include Greek, Albanian, Ghanaian, Irish, Italian, Jewish, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, and Southeast Asian. There will be eight “Los Wepas de Worcester” games presented by La Mega Radio.
