Highlanders Streak Hits its End

By DJ Harding –

The story in the final game on Holiday Tournament action and the championship game at Laska Gymnasium at Assumption is never give up because Saint Johns was never up until three minutes left in the 4th but never gave up. As the saying goes it’s not about the size of the dog in the fight, but the size in the fight of the dog.

The Pioneers of St johns had their comeback by number 14 Nick Barnes who won tournament MVP for his great play throughout the holiday tournament.

The Pioneers won the Laska tournament and put an end to Doherty’s undefeated streak.

Speaking with Coach Chavis on Tuesday this is the best start in his coaching career at Doherty. But 6-0 is now 6-1.

But this loss wasn’t despite a great effort put up by the Highlanders lead by Azier McClain-Hines. Who had 26 points on the day with 13 in the first half and started the day with 3 quick 3 pointers to start.

McClain is his last name for a reason because he was heroic like John McClain in Die Hard but unfortunately for the Highlanders Hans Gruber won this round.
