Waterbury, Connecticut Man Released From Prison In June Is Chaged With Being A Felon In Possession Of A Firearm

On Tuesday, Raekwon Overstreet, 27, of Waterbury, Connecticut appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert M. Spector in New Haven. 

On October 26, 2022 a federal grand jury in New Haven returned a three-count indictment charging Overstreet with one count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, one count of possession with intent to distribute controlled substances and one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

Allegedly on October 5, 2022, Overstreet possessed a loaded Taurus 9mm handgun and distribution quantities of heroin, fentanyl and crack cocaine.

Overstreet’s criminal history includes a state conviction for conspiracy to commit robbery in the first degree, and a federal conviction for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

In June of 2022, Overstreet was released from federal prison after being sentenced on February 4, 2020, in New Haven federal court to 30 months of imprisonment and three years of supervised release for the firearm offense.
