Wednesday night the Worcester Railers were back in action at the DCU Center in downtown Worcester. The Railers hosted the Reading Royals for the first of eight games this season between the two teams and suffered their second loss of the season with a final score of 6-2.
The Railers entered tonight’s game after losing their first game of the season 3-4 on Friday night against the Adirondack Thunder. They bounced back on Saturday night with a 3-2 win against the Adirondack Thunder.
In the First period the Worcester Railers made one goal against the Reading Royals who made four goals. Collin Adams made the goal for the Railers, assisted by Jimmy Lambert. Alec Butcher scored the first goal of the game for the Reading Royals, assisted by Trey Bradley. Max Newton scored two goals in the first for the Reading Royals and Brendan Hoffmann made the fourth goal of the game for the Reading Royals, assisted by Jacob Gaucher. The Railers had just four shots on goal in the first period while the Reading Royals had nine shots on goal. Mason Millman from the Reading Royals and Noah Delmas from the Railers both were called in the first period for slashing. At the end of the first period it was a 4-1 game, Reading Royals lead.
In the second period the Worcester Railers made another goal with Blake Christensen assisted by Steve Jandric. Reading Royals had two goals with Tyler Kirkup assisted by Colin Felix and Will MacKinnon, and Trey Bradley assisted by Charlie Gerard. The Reading Royals had nine shots on goal while the Worcester Railers had nine shots on goal. Blade Jenkins and Myles McGurty of the Railers both got called for tripping while Charlie Gerard of the Reading Royals was called for slashing. At the end of the second period it was a 6-2 game, Reading Royals lead.
The Railers will be back on the ice at the DCU in downtown Worcester Friday night when they host the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. Puck drop Friday night is at 7:05 PM.
