Worcester Red Sox Fall 9-5 In Final Home Game Against Syracuse Mets

In their final home game of the 2022 season at Polar Park, the Worcester Red Sox who are the winners of game one and game five in this six-game series with the Syracuse Mets, who who won the middle three of this series and Sunday 9-5.

This game got started with a homer by Jarren Duran in the bottom of the first to put Worcester on top 0-1. Top of the second Nick Dini hit a homer to make it a 1-1 ballgame. But in the bottom of the second, Worcester would take the lead, making this a 1-3 game with Johan Mieses and Jaylin Davis both hitting a homer. Top of the fifth Syracuse got three runs in to make this a 5-3 game. Bottom of the eighth Worcester got two runs over the plate with Ronaldo Hernandez and Johan Mieses to make it a 5-5 game. But in the top of the ninth Syracuse secured their 9-5 win with Carlos Rincon hitting his fourth grand slam driving in Travis Jankowski, Yolmer Sanchez and Nick Dini.

Enmanuel Valdez had three hits Sunday, now has 148 for the season between double-A and triple-A. With two more hits next week in Rochester, Valdez will have 150 hits for the season and the most on the team.

While Worcester played their final home game on Sunday, their season does not end Sunday, following the game they will head to Rochester, NY in advance of their season-ending 3-game series against the Rochester Red Wings tomorrow night through Wednesday afternoon.  

The next home game at Polar Park in downtown Worcester will be in 186 days on Friday, March 31 vs. the Syracuse Mets at 4:05 p.m.
