Worcester Red Sox Drop Game 4 Of 6 Against Buffalo

In Worcester Friday night, the WooSox played game four of their six-game set against the Buffalo Bisons (AAA-Toronto), and with Worcester’s 9-1 win Wednesday night and Thursday night’s 4-3 win, Worcester moved within 4½ games of first place Durham.

Top of the first Gabriel Moreno hit his third homer of the season to drive in Otto Lopez to put Buffalo on top 2-0. But at the bottom of the first Enmanuel Valdez hit his fourth double to help drive in Jarren Duran to make this a 2-1 game. Triston Casas then hit a single to drive in Enmanuel Valdez and make this a 2-2 game. 

Top of the second Buffalo made this a 4-2 game with both Cullen Large and Nathan Lukes scoring. 

With a dinger 425 feet into center field, Jarren Duran made this a 4-3 game at the bottom of the third. 

Top of the fifth Buffalo made this a 7-3 game with Trevor Schwecke, Otto Lopez and Spencer Horwitz scoring. 

Top of the sixth Zack Collins hit his seventh double for Buffalo this season to make this an 8-3 game. But then Vinny Capra hit a single to drive in Gabriel Moreno and Zack Collins to put Buffalo on top 10-3.

Bottom of the seventh, Abraham Almonte got an RBI-single, driving Nick Sogard in to make this a 10-4 game. Jaylin Davis then hit a single to drive in Jarren Duran to make it a 10-5 game. Ryan Fitzgerald walked and that helped to get Abraham Almonte over the plate to make this a 10-6 ballgame, and then Pedro Castellanos made it over the plate to make it a 10-7 ballgame. 

In the bottom of the eighth Pedro Castellanos hit an RBI-single, driving in Enmanuel Valdez to make this a 10-8 ballgame.

With a scoreless ninth, Buffalo will take the win for this game, making this a 2-2 series. The WooSox and Bisons will meet again Saturday for game five of this six-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 4:05 PM at Polar Park.
