Hartford Yard Goats Beat Harrisburg Senators 6-2

The Hartford Yard Goats hosted the Harrisburg Senators at Dunkin Donuts Park on Wednesday night, looking to avenge the 8-7 loss they suffered against this same team on Tuesday.

The Senators got on the board first with John Nogowski scored on a single from Breton Doyle. WIlson Garcia also advanced to third, but the Yard Goats were able to keep the Senators to just the lone score in the top of the first inning. 

The bottom half of the second inning was when the Yard Goats took control of the game. It all began with Grant Lavigne scoring on a line drive from Kyle Datres. Datres and Brenton Doyle both scored following a double from Daniel Cope, making the score 3-1 in favor of the Yard Goats.

Both teams would score a run each in the fourth inning as Andrew Young hit his third home run of the season for Harrisburg and Doyle hit his 12th home run for Hartford. Doyle then hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth, allowing Daniel Montano to score, making the score 5-2. Aaron Schunk would score the team’s second run of the inning and final of the game as the Yard Goats went on to win the game by a final score of 6-2.

Michael Baird earned the win for Hartford, pitching five innings, giving up seven hits, two earned runs, one walk and four strikeouts. On the losing side for Harrisburg, Jake Irvin, who falls to 0-4 on the season, also pitched five innings, giving up six hits, four earned runs, one walk and four strikeouts. 

The Senators and Yard Goats will meet again tomorrow night as Hartford will celebrate Pride Night with a special pregame performance from Jim and Sasha Allen,who appeared on the NBC singing competition The Voice. In addition, the first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a pride-colored bracelet
