The red-hot Worcester Red Sox were back in action Saturday night in downtown Rochester, New York. With a win Tuesday night, Wednesday night, Thursday night, Friday night and tonight’s 10-0 win, Worcester owns this series 5-0 and has dominated the Red Wings.
Saturday night started with Connor Wong Stealing home at the top of the first to give Worcester an early 1-0 lead.
The top of the second started with Pedro Castellanos hitting his second double since his triple-A start just last Saturday to help drive in Ronaldo Hernandez and Jeter Downs to put Worcester on top 3-0. Connor Wong then hit a single to drive in Pedro Castellanos to put Worcester on top 4-0.
At the top of the third Christin Stewart hit his fourteenth Homer of the season to put Worcester on top 5-0.
The top of the fifth started with Johan Mieses hitting his second double of the season to help drive in Ronaldo Hernandez to put Worcester on top 6-0. Then Yolmer Sanchez made a huge dent in this game with his ninth dinger of the season to drive in Pedro Castellanos and Johan Mieses to put Worcester on top 9-0.
At the top of the ninth Jeter Downs sealed the win for Worcester with his thirteenth dinger of the season to put the WooSox on top 10-0.
Brian Keller started this game for Worcester and went five, allowing only three hits, no runs and struck out eight before being relieved by Geoff Hartlieb who went an inning and allowed just one hit, no runs and struck out two. Eduard Bazardo relieved Hartlieb and went one inning, allowing one hit, no runs and struck out one.
Worcester’s win Saturday night is their longest winning streak since August 31 – September 8 when the 2021 WooSox won eight straight (six in Rochester against the Red Wings and two at home against the IronPigs).
