Charlotte Knights Beat Worcester Red Sox 12-2

Saturday, late afternoon the Worcester Red Sox and the Charlotte Knights were back in action at Polar Park for game five of six with 7,446 fans in the stands. But after winning the first four, Worcester loses the fifth 12-2.

At the top of the first Charlotte made this a 2-0 game with both Mark Payton and Eloy Jimenez making it over the plate. At the top of the sixth Xavier Fernandez got over the plate to put Charlotte on top 3-0 and then Eloy Jimenez hit a single to help drive in Blake Rutherford and Ryder Jones and put Charlotte on top 5-0. At the bottom of the seventh Pedro Castellanos hit his first dinger of the season to make it a 5-1 game. At the bottom of the eighth Christin Stewart hit his thirteenth homer of the season. Stewart hit two dingers on Saturday. At the top of the ninth Blake Rutherford hit a single to drive in Carlos Perez to put Charlotte on top 7-2. Ryder Jones hit a single to drive in Xavier Fernandez and then Logan Glass hit his first homer to drive in Laz Rivera and Ryder Jones to get the 12-2 win for Charlotte

On Sunday these two clubs will meet again for the series finale. Brayan Bello (4-2, 3.12) will start and seek to end this series 4-1.  

Sunday at 1:05 pm, at Polar Park is Bike Day as Motorcycle Bikers enjoy a BBQ Lunch and the ballgame. Steve Hogan the famous Red Sox Bullpen Cop will also be making an appearance at Polar Park and will be at the Sherwood Diner during the game. Sunday is also “Fallon Health Family Funday Sunday” and “Kids Run the Bases” after the game sponsored by HP Hood.
