On Tuesday night, starting summer off right with the Worcester Red Sox opening homestand two of their back-to-back June homestands. This six-game homestand, Worcester will host the Charlotte Knights who just wrapped up a six-game homestand against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp who are 25-41 and tenth in the International League East Division. The Worcester Red Sox who just wrapped up a series against the Toledo Mud Hens are now 32-34 and tied for sixth place. The last time these two teams met the Worcester Res Sox were the Pawtucket Red Sox on July 28th, 2019 and the Charlotte Knights won that game 13-10.
Jaylin Davis opened this contest up with a dinger at the bottom of the second to give Worcester an early 0-1 lead. At the bottom of the sixth Christin Stewart hit a dinger 397 feet to center to drive in Jaylin Davis and put Worcester on top 0-3. At the bottom of the eighth Worcester got two more runs over the plate with Christian Stewart and Roberto Ramos to get a 0-5 win.
Josh Taylor on a rehab assignment started for Worcester on Tuesday and went one inning. Brayan Bello who took the win Tuesday night went seven innings, threw 91 pitches, sixty strikes, struckout seven and gave up five hits.
In Somerset, New Jersey the Hartford Yard Goats kicked off a six-game set against the Somerset Patriots. With the Yard Goats 3-2 win they are now tied with Somerset for first place in the division with five games remaining in the first half. This contest kicked off at the bottom of the first with Elijah Dunham hitting his eighth dinger of the season to give Somerset an early 0-1 lead. After five scoreless innings the Yard Goats got into this contest at the top of the sixth with Michael Toglia hitting his eighth dinger of the season to drive in Ezequiel Tovar and put the Yard Goats on top 2-1. At the bottom of the sixth Anthony Volpe hit his eighth dinger of the season to tie the game 2-2. But at the top of the seventh Ezequiel Tovar hit a single to get Tyler Hill over the plate and the Yard Goats got a 3-2 win with the remainder of the game scoreless for both clubs.
In Richmond, Virginia on Tuesday night the Portland Sea Dogs kicked off their six-game set against the Flying Squirrels. This contest took off at the bottom of the first with Diego Rincones hitting his fourth homer of the season to drive in Brett Auerbach and give Richmond an early 0-2 lead. After four scoreless innings the Sea Dogs got into this contest at the top of the fifth with Hudson Potts getting over the plate to make it a 1-2 game. David Hamilton got over the plate at the top of the eighth for the Sea Dogs to make it a 2-2 tie game. But at the top of the ninth Hudson Potts, Tyreque Reed and Kole Cottam got over the plate to get the Sea Dogs a 4-2 win.
After grabbing their first win Sunday since June 12, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats slid back into the losing column with a 7-1 loss against the Altoona Curve.
