After losing two straight against the Syracuse Mets, the Worcester Red Sox were back in action for game five of this six-game homestand and we’re looking to split this series 2-2.
Khalil Lee got the first run of the game to put Syracuse up 1-0 at the top of the first. At the bottom of the second Connor Wong hit his second homer of the season to drive in Roberto Ramos and Johan Mieses. At the bottom of the third Ronaldo Hernandez hit his fourth homer of the season to put Worcester up 1-4. At the bottom of the fifth Johan Mieses hit his fifth homer of the season to put Worcester up 1-6.
Syracuse showed up late to the game grabbing four runs at the top of the sixth and another run at the top of the 8th to make it a 6-6 tie game.
Breaking the tie at the bottom of the 8th was Jaylin Davis with a double to drive in Connor Wong and put Worcester on top 6-7. But then at the top of the ninth Dominic Smith had a power swing to hit his first homer of the season to tie this game up 7-7.
To end this contest Roberto Ramos got the walk-off win hitting a double to drive in Grant Williams and put Worcester on top 7-8.
The finale of this series will be Sunday at 1:05 p.m. when the Worcester Red Sox will also transform into “Los Wepas de Worcester” as part of MiLB’s “Copa de la Diversión!”
“Los Wepas de Worcester ” will attempt to snap the split and end this series before taking Monday off, and then heading up to Buffalo for a six-game set against the Bison.
